Ethereum Upgrade with 50 Signatures from Binance’s Wallet Helps Recover Part of $6 B Loss

An attacker exploited a 2025 Ethereum upgrade that enhances wallet functionality, using 50 signatures from Binance’s own wallet to drain a portion of the exchange’s $6 B loss. The upgrade, designed to make ordinary wallets smarter, enabled the attacker to authorize the transfer of funds from Binance’s accounts, contributing to the recovery of some of the lost assets.
