Heating Oil Prices in Upper Teesdale Surge More Than Double, Reaching £1,000‑Plus Bills

In Upper Teesdale, where there is no mains gas, households now pay about £1.19 per litre for heating oil—more than double the October 2025 price of 52p. A 500‑litre delivery costs roughly £600, meaning a full tank can cost over £1,000. The rise has prompted local residents to rely on a bulk‑purchasing scheme run by Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services (UTASS), which can shave about 3p per litre by ordering 500 litres at a time. The scheme is seen as a vital way to ease cash‑flow pressures amid the steep energy cost hike.
