Three European Artists Use Art to Explore the Evolution and Meaning of Money

Three European artists—Martin Fischer (Cypherpunk Now), RYR, and ZETRA—are exhibiting at Bitcoin Amsterdam this November, continuing a historical tradition of questioning and visualizing monetary systems, dating back to 1720 in Amsterdam. Fischer draws from hacker culture, having been involved with the bitcoin-accepting hackerspace Paralelní Polis since 2014. RYR creates art using shredded banknotes and cash artifacts, while ZETRA examines purchasing power by charting prices in dollars and bitcoin in his TOMATOSOUP paintings and exploring bitcoin wallet recovery phrases in THE BIP39 SERIES.
