US Job Openings, Hires, and Separations Show Little Change in July 2026

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that job openings were 7.3 million (4.4 percent) and hires were 5.1 million (3.2 percent) in July 2026, with total separations also at 5.1 million (3.2 percent). Within separations, quits were 3.1 million (1.9 percent) and layoffs and discharges were 1.7 million (1.0 percent). June 2026 figures were revised, with job openings revised down to 7.2 million and hires revised down to 5.3 million.
