OpenAI launches dots, an always-on personal assistant at developer conference

OpenAI unveiled its always-on AI personal assistant "dots" at its developer conference in late September. The assistant is available to ChatGPT Pro tier subscribers and can connect to calendars, email and other tools to help users get work done. It represents OpenAI's effort to make its coding tools more intuitive by repackaging them into a persistent agent that operates in the background without constant prompting.
