OpenAI releases Decisions API making fast, low-cost decision models widely available

OpenAI has made its Decisions API model available to all users, enabling fast and cheap intelligence that can replace LLMs in various workflows. The public version now includes voice and visual modalities, and OpenAI is targeting geographic inference resources to lower latency globally. Initial trials with customers like Speak showed a reduction in action time from 1.4 seconds to 0.13 seconds. While optimization criteria for decision models vary, the low-cost, high-speed nature of these models is driving their adoption.
