Zcash developers set November 5 block height for NU7 upgrade tripling transaction speed

Zcash developers agreed to activate the NU7 upgrade at block 3,543,405, expected around November 5. The upgrade will reduce block times from 75 to 25 seconds, potentially cutting the wait for three transaction confirmations from nearly four minutes to about 75 seconds. It will also permanently disable the Sprout privacy system, making any remaining funds in that system unspendable, and remove 60% of block fees from circulation to be returned to miners around February 2031.
