Tencent releases Hy4 AI model with vision and computer use, claims second place among Chinese models
Tencent has released its AI model Hy4, which can understand images and autonomously operate software for the first time. The model is available via Tencent Cloud, OpenRouter, and Tencent apps, with weights to be released later. Tencent says Hy4 ranked ahead of Deepseek V4.1 Flash, Kimi K3.1 Pro, and GLM-5.3 Flash in a finance test with over 200 professionals and nearly 600 tasks, and reduced web research hallucination from nearly 16 percent to about 5 percent. Independent assessor Artificial Analysis ranks Hy4 second among Chinese lab models with an Intelligence Index score of 35, behind Kimi K3.1 Pro at 46. Tencent admits Hy4 still trails top commercial models on advanced math, long coding, and complex image analysis, and plans a cheaper Hy4 flash variant.
