Bitcoin Dominance Rises to 60% as Altcoins Decline Amid Market Wait for Catalyst
Bitcoin's market share reached 60%, the highest since May, signaling investor preference for BTC over altcoins, even as Bitcoin slipped below $82,000 on Thursday from a brief push above $84,000. While major tokens like ether ETH $2,490.55, XRP (XRP), and solana (SOL) were largely flat or positive over seven days, smaller tokens saw declines, with the CoinDesk Memecoin Index falling over 5%. Analysts, including Joel Kruger of LMAX Group, noted that the market is awaiting a fresh catalyst, with global macroeconomic conditions remaining dominant. Vikram Subburaj, CEO of Giottus exchange, cautioned against chasing rallies due to volatile ETF flows and advised staggered entries ahead of the Federal Reserve's next interest-rate policy meeting.
