U.S. Treasury buys back $6 billion in bonds, dealers say bigger isn't enough
On November 4, the U.S. Treasury bought back $6 billion of older government bonds, hitting the full operation limit, but one bond accounted for 82% of purchases and only seven of 40 eligible bonds were bought. Dealers said larger buybacks help liquidity, yet simply increasing size may not be enough; they asked for earlier communication, more frequent operations, and per-security limits. Treasury plans up to $70 billion in liquidity-support buybacks from November through January and is evaluating changes to limits and scheduling. The article notes this does not automatically mean new liquidity for Bitcoin or risk assets.
