Rheinmetall reopens tank barrel production in UK after 20 years

The UK Gun Hall in Telford, operated by German defence firm Rheinmetall, has resumed the production of gun barrels for tanks for the first time in 20 years, supporting 100 jobs with plans for future expansion. The facility will manufacture barrels and breaches for 120mm and 155mm weapon systems, including for the RCH 155 and future artillery platforms. Defence Secretary Wes Streeting said Britain is "back in the business of making weapons," while Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger called the gun hall an "important milestone" strengthening the UK's industrial base.
