MetaMask Adds Stellar Network to Wallets, Requiring Manual Trustline Setup for Cross‑Chain Bridges

MetaMask launched Stellar support on its Mobile and Extension apps on Oct. 29, 2026, adding a Stellar address to users’ existing multichain accounts. To receive assets such as USDC, an account must first be funded with at least 1 XLM and then activate the desired token’s trustline, which requires an additional 0.5 XLM reserve per token. MetaMask warns that bridging funds without an active trustline can result in loss of assets, and that ordinary Stellar sends to an address lacking the required trustline will fail. The wallet prompts users before bridge confirmation and advises manual activation of the trustline before receiving bridged tokens.
