Google allows direct launch of vibe-coded personal apps via Play Store in the US

Google introduced a new feature in the US enabling users to launch custom Android apps, created using Google's AI Studio's vibe-coding, directly through the Play Store without needing a computer connection. These personal apps remain secure, private, and separate from the public store catalog, and users can launch them with a standard Google account; sharing with select groups will be added soon. Google positions this as an on-ramp for fledgling developers, stating that Play helps them graduate to a professional developer account with the same Trust & Safety reviews as professional developers, according to Sam Bright, Google’s vice president and general manager of Google Play.
