Chainalysis reports scammer lost $4.8M in Bitcoin due to tampered Ledger wallets

Blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis revealed that a scammer lost over 60 BTC, valued at about $4.8 million, after moving proceeds into three Ledger addresses on September 22, which were subsequently emptied by thieves into a single wallet on October 9. Ledger has tied all confirmed losses to devices sold by reseller CryptoBilis, which were found to have an implant that reads the 24-word recovery phrase during setup via LTE. The initial funds originated from a task scam where victims were paid to fake sales and reviews before being told to add their own money to receive payment.
