Bitcoin dropped to $76,300 on Thursday after Binance confirmed a security breach estimated at $6.3 billion in total impact, placing the incident among the largest cryptocurrency thefts on record. The exchange stated that approximately $3 billion in affected assets have been frozen on-chain so far, and that user funds are safe. Binance said it will cover all losses from its SAFU fund and company funds, and has worked with Tether and Circle to freeze approximately $1.567 billion in USDT and USDC tied to the suspected attacker.
