An unknown trader on Hyperliquid incurred approximately $469,000 in losses before fees after a forced liquidation closed 8,162.8 ETH of their ETH short position overnight on October 19. The wallet subsequently re-entered the market, adding 1,126.2 ETH of new shorts between 13:56 and 14:04 UTC, bringing its total short position to about 6,789.3 ETH, valued near $16.2 million by 16:00 UTC. The liquidations were triggered by an Ethereum price rebound that forced the closure of nearly $19.8 million in exposure at prices between $2,409 and $2,445, buying back exposure higher than the trader's original entry near $2,366.
