Wayfair among three firms fined millions by CMA for misleading sales tactics

The Competition Markets Authority (CMA) fined Wayfair £4.8m, Appliances Direct £1.2m, and Gold's Gym £45,000, totaling £6m, for using misleading sales tactics. Customers from Appliances Direct and Gold's Gym are set to receive refunds totaling £440,000. The CMA's fines stem from an investigation launched last November into online pricing, and the watchdog stated that the firms admitted to breaking the law and engaged constructively, which reduced the fines by 40%.
