Disney hires majority of Character AI workforce after startup's bankruptcy

Character.AI, the AI chatbot startup that filed for bankruptcy earlier this week, has reached an agreement with Disney. At least 60 employees, described as the majority of the workforce, will receive job offers from Disney, with an estimated $60 million in annual compensation. Former Character.AI CEO Karandeep Anand has been named Disney's first Chief Technology Officer. The transition follows a legal filing that revealed the deal is a 'stalking horse bid,' allowing other companies to submit higher offers.
