ENS seeks DAO approval to activate ENSv2, an upgraded Ethereum naming protocol
ENS founder Nick Johnson submitted a draft proposal to activate ENSv2 on the Ethereum mainnet. If approved, new registrations on the original ENS registrar will be frozen, but existing domain holders can continue renewing their names. The upgrade features a redesigned registry architecture for more flexible domain management, and after activation, ENS Labs plans to transfer administrative control to the DAO. New .eth registrations will move to the upgraded system after synchronization, though new registrations will be temporarily unavailable during the transition. The proposal requires at least 1% voter participation (1 million ENS votes) and majority approval over a seven-day voting period, followed by a minimum two-day timelock.
