Microsoft Research introduces Quine, a multimodal AI system for complex biology research

Quine is an AI research effort designed to create a multimodal world model of biology, connecting models, scientific tools, literature, and researchers. In collaboration with researchers at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT, the system was used to prioritize compounds predicted to drive therapeutic tumor-state shifts and validated several top-ranked candidates across multiple wet-lab assays. Quine is experimental research technology only, not intended for clinical or medical use, and its outputs require validation by qualified researchers. Microsoft Research expects to expand access through products like Microsoft Discovery as the technology matures.
