Ripple’s $16 trillion payment volume fails to lift XRP’s price
Ripple’s ledger recorded $16 trillion in transaction volume, yet the token’s price rose only modestly from $1.29 on Oct. 25 to $1.32 on Oct. 28—a 2.3% gain that still left it about 11% below its September close. The modest move comes despite new institutional partners, including BNY Mellon, adding support for XRP and Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin. Ripple’s revenue model is diversified: it earns from financial software, services, and the RLUSD stablecoin, and its $900 million annual revenue target reflects growth across all products, not just XRP. The company also secured a national trust bank charter on Oct. 26, allowing it to manage RLUSD reserves and offer digital‑asset custody without requiring clients to hold XRP. Thus, the surge in payment volume does not translate into direct value for XRP holders, who have no claim on Ripple’s profits.
