Crypto PACs spend over $46.6 million opposing Sherrod Brown in Ohio Senate race

Affiliates of the Fairshake PAC, largely funded by Coinbase and Ripple Labs, have spent over $46.6 million on media opposing former lawmaker Sherrod Brown and supporting Republican Jon Husted in Ohio's Senate race for the 2026 midterms. This marks a sharp increase from an initial plan of $30 million, with the group Defend American Jobs leading the spending. The Digital Freedom Fund, backed by the Winklevoss twins, also reported over $5.9 million in ad spending to oppose Brown and support Husted. Brown, who chaired the Senate Banking Committee, has been a vocal critic of the crypto industry.
