Ledger unveils Atom, a smartphone-like crypto hardware wallet set for mid-2027 release

Ledger's Atom wallet, scheduled for mid-2027 release, will run Android and support apps like WhatsApp and Instagram, allowing users to switch between smartphone functions and a protected mode for digital asset management. The device includes tamper-resistant enclosures and sensors to prevent supply-chain attacks, such as the recent CryptoBilis breach, which led to estimated losses of up to $93.2 million across over 300 wallets, with Tether freezing $10 million of USDT. Ledger plans to initially sell Atom only through its website.
