Uniswap Launches TJAR Fee Converter, Robinhood Already Using It for Stablecoin Fees
Uniswap announced on Oct. 30 that its Token Jar (TJAR) fee converter is now available to third‑party apps. The system lets external traders—called searchers—pay a fixed amount of a chosen token to receive selected fee assets that have accumulated in a Token Jar. Robinhood is already using TJAR to collect Uniswap API fees in USDC and USDG across its supported chains. The arrangement works by sending the selected fee tokens to a configured destination while the remaining assets stay in the jar. Searchers pay the full release amount even if they only pick some assets, and they receive the entire balance of each selected asset. Because the jar does not value its holdings and no oracle adjusts the payment, the value of the assets can change while the payment stays fixed. Lower release thresholds allow jars to clear more often, reducing exposure to price swings, but a large fee deposit can push the holdings well above the fixed payment, potentially leaving value for searchers at the operator’s expense. The TJAR mechanism gives operators the ability to set a fixed fee for portfolio changes while searchers seek to recover more than the payment plus execution costs.
