OpenAI-backed Thrive Holdings acquires ADT for $7.6 billion to build AI-powered smart home security

Thrive Holdings, backed by OpenAI, has acquired physical security company ADT for $7.6 billion in equity, with a total enterprise value of $15.3 billion. ADT will serve as the foundation for Thrive's smart home security business, and the two plan to jointly invest and release new AI-powered security products. OpenAI will supply AI models and forward-deployed engineers to support Thrive's portfolio companies.
