Labour leader Michael Marra pressures Energy Secretary Fahnbulleh on Rosebank oil field approval

Scottish Labour leader Michael Marra has directly appealed to Energy Secretary Miatta Fahnbulleh to approve production at the Rosebank oil field, the UK's largest untapped oil field. The request comes after Energy Secretary Fahnbulleh recently approved the nearby Jackdaw gas field, a decision environmentalists say will hinder climate efforts and make 'no meaningful difference' to UK energy security. The Rosebank decision is seen as a test of the Labour government's energy policy flexibility, which previously pledged not to allow new North Sea drilling.
