Cardano developers merge key Leios code to pursue 15x scaling breakthrough

Cardano developers have merged key Leios code into the main development branch, combining the Praos2 consensus protocol with the Leios scaling system to pursue a planned 15-fold increase in transaction capacity. The integration includes LeiosNotify and LeiosFetch components to help nodes process additional transaction batches. IOG estimates the current Ouroboros Praos system handles approximately 4.5 kilobytes of transaction data per second, while the initial Leios rollout targets 13.5 to 22.5 kilobytes per second, with potential to reach 45 to 67.5 kilobytes. Full scaling depends on performance testing and governance approvals.
