Study finds only 18% of Uniswap v3 positions under $1,000 beat holding after gas fees

Bitquery's October 2025 through October 2026 study of 71,166 closed Uniswap v3 positions across eight Ethereum pools found that 51% beat holding before gas, but only 18% did after fees. The median gas cost for positions under $1,000 was 67 cents. Gas matters most to small deposits: across all sizes, 49% beat holding before costs, falling to 34% after. For the smallest band below $1,000, the win rate dropped from 51% to 18%, a 33-percentage-point gap driven by transaction costs that consume narrow advantages.
