THORChain halts swaps after Ethereum block reorganization exposes refund bug, slowing Binance hackers

THORChain paused cross-chain swaps on Saturday following an Ethereum block reorganization that exposed a refund bug. The bug allowed the protocol to refund 10 ETH that had already been deposited, inadvertently triggering an automatic pause. The disruption also slowed the movement of funds stolen in the $6.3 billion Binance hack, according to Chainalysis, which said the pause prevented North Korean hackers from using cross-chain swaps to launder the assets.
