Voters across Ohio and Illinois weigh measures to limit data centre growth on Tuesday

On Tuesday, voters in 38 local jurisdictions across Ohio and Illinois will decide on at least 41 measures to delay, ban, or set new rules for data centres. A Gallup poll from May found that seven in ten Americans oppose having a data centre built in their area, ranking the issue ahead of climate change in importance for upcoming midterm residents. In Ohio, both Democrats and Republicans have joined forces against the projects.
