Amazon SVP Panos Panay predicts ambient AI devices will reduce reliance on apps

Panos Panay, Amazon’s SVP of Devices, Alexa & Leo, stated at TechCrunch Disrupt that personal computing is moving toward ambient devices that quietly use sensors and AI to anticipate needs, rather than requiring users to actively command tools like smartphones. Amazon introduced new Bee AI wearables, including a wristband/pendant and a credit-card-sized magnetic device, which passively record audio and take notes, identifying to-dos and reminders. To ensure privacy, Bee devices process audio in real time and delete raw audio; transcripts are encrypted with device-controlled keys, meaning Amazon employees cannot access them without user consent.
