Figma co-founder Dylan Field says MCP protocol has room for improvement despite expanding partner ecosystem

At Figma's first Config conference in India, the company announced support for 20 new Model Context Protocol partners including Linear, ClickUp and Mistral, expanding the open standard's integration with design tools. Figma co-founder Dylan Field reiterated that while the company aims to open its ecosystem, MCP is not a perfect protocol and advantages frontier labs. Field also addressed criticism about Anthropic resources not being available via MCP, stating he wants users to be able to use the protocol with Figma data. Figma's CEO cited abuse risks as the reason for not fully exposing data through the protocol.
