Anthropic commits 5% of shares to public benefit fund; Musk promises SpaceX shares to US children

Anthropic announced it will commit 5% of its shares to a new Public Benefit Fund, subject to stockholder approval, with plans to dedicate roughly 20% of stock to public causes once employee pledges are counted. The move follows the company's pitch of an AI safety bill to lawmakers. In response, Elon Musk promised on X to give one SpaceX share to every child in the United States next year, a giveaway currently valued at over $10 billion. Anthropic, the maker of the Claude chatbot, is preparing for an IPO as soon as November at a reported valuation of around $2 trillion.
