New York Attorney General Letitia James is seeking approximately $1.37 billion in damages from NovaTech founders Cynthia and Eddy Petion, who fled the U.S. before an August 2025 default judgment. The scheme targeted Haitian communities through prayer groups and WhatsApp, drawing over 11,000 New York investors. Four top promoters agreed to pay nearly $6 million to benefit victims and are permanently banned from the securities, commodities and crypto industries.
