Wall Street expands onto blockchain as Securitize launches tokenized stock trading and JPMorgan processes $7 billion daily
On October 8, Securitize began blockchain-based trading of 12 US stocks including Apple and Nvidia on Solana, with products backed by underlying shares. Meanwhile, JPMorgan reported in September that its Kinexys blockchain business processes approximately $7 billion in transactions daily. Pantera Capital president Scott Lawin stated this shift moves the industry into "the somewhat less exciting but more sustainable part of the blockchain story," focusing on real adoption, revenues and scale rather than hype. Lawin argues institutions need a framework to assess tokens as businesses with real customers and revenue, noting that the S&P Pantera Digital Asset Index requires eligible tokens to have positive total revenue over the previous two completed quarters.
