Google Play enables private, vibe-coded Android apps without public store listing

Google announced a new feature allowing users to build personal, private applications using Google AI Studio and run them directly on their Android devices via their standard Google account. These apps will not appear in Google Play's search or listings, nor will they be shared outside the creator unless explicitly shared with a network of trusted friends. Initially, the feature is available to users in the U.S., age 18 and up. Sam Bright, Google’s VP and GM for the Google Play and Developer Ecosystem, said the future of apps on Google Play is personal, secure, and built by everyone.
