Xbox launches Labs group to explore AI-powered game modding and ports

Microsoft established a new Xbox Labs group to explore the rapid emergence of AI-powered game mods, which allow classic titles to be ported to new devices or merged into new experiences, challenging assumptions about software-hardware tethering and the boundary between creation and play. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma stated that this initiative aims to make great games easier to access and allow more players to become creators, while also addressing the challenge of unauthorized IP use from decompilations and recompilations.
