Chinese institute report says Chengdu's display industry ranks among top tier domestically

The China Center for Information Industry Development released the "New Display Industry Development Status and Outlook: 2026 New Display Industry Development Report" at the 2026 World Display Industry Innovation Development Conference in Chengdu on November 4. The report said Chengdu has recently achieved leapfrog development, with its new display industry scale ranking among the top tier domestically and its industrial ecosystem completeness in the first tier. China has formed four major display industry clusters around Beijing, the Yangtze River Delta, central and western China, and the Pearl River Delta. TFT-LCD and AMOLED are the mainstream technologies, while Micro LED, silicon-based OLED, e-paper, and laser display are developing rapidly. The report said AI is driving three trends: displays serving as an essential AI interface, multidimensional technology innovation, and green low-carbon transformation.
