South Africa's ANC party on track to face 'nightmare' losses in municipal elections

South Africa's ruling ANC party is facing a historic drop in support in municipal elections, with early results showing it at 32% of the vote compared to 25% for the opposition Democratic Alliance. The decline extends the party's post-apartheid dominance erosion, likely forcing coalition talks for control of major cities like Johannesburg and Cape Town, where the DA is on track for a majority.
