Bitcoin Core adopted a new policy on Oct 22 enabling developers to backport AI‑discovered vulnerability fixes to all maintained release lines without a two‑week embargo. Three AI‑identified weaknesses – two medium‑severity memory‑exhaustion flaws and one low‑severity file‑overflow bug – were disclosed in an Oct 28 advisory. Bitcoin Core released patches in versions 29.5, 30.4, 31.2 and 32.1 after the first vulnerability was spotted on July 8, a second on Sept 15, and the Windows/macOS memory flaw on Oct 23. Operators on 32‑bit or FAT32 systems, or running obsolete 29.x branches, remain vulnerable to the file‑overflow issue. Linux is unaffected. A network snapshot on Oct 18 showed 3,671 of 8,422 peers (43.6 %) on unsupported lines – 3,243 on 31.x, 712 on 30.x, 635 on 29.x. With the formal release of 32.0, 29.x will exit maintenance, raising the unsupported percentage to 51.1 %.
