Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange, suffered a $6.3 B hack on Oct 29 2026, draining hot wallets on nine blockchains. The attack began after a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop; investigators later found additional breach points. Roughly $3 B of stolen assets has been frozen on‑chain. Binance will cover all losses from its SAFU emergency fund (~$1.17 B BTC) and company funds. Withdrawals paused and are expected to resume in ~45 hours following a security revamp. Deposits were restored on Oct 30. Binance will publish a full post‑mortem and an updated proof of reserves by 31 Oct 2026. The hack did not trigger sale of its >$1 B worth of SpaceX shares.
